VOLUNTEERING

To be a volunteer in Africa is not for the faint hearted, it is for people who are willing to give 100% and more. You will witness many things that you would never have imagined, but it is guaranteed that your heart will be touched and you will leave with many memories of individual children and the many different characters that you will meet...

Volunteer programmes will run throughout the year, however the most popular times are over the Summer holidays and we therefore advise that if you wish to participate at that time then applications MUST be sent out as soon as possible to ensure your place on the programme.

Volunteering work will involve a wide range of activities from school construction, working in the Food Kitchen (run once a day for street children in Mirerani), teaching lessons to the childrens etc.

You will be sent an application form should you be interested in volunteering with us. Once we have received your completed application form, we will arrange an interview, which will normally be with one of the Directors and the Volunteer Co-ordinator. Interview will be by phone if volunteer is located outwith Aberdeenshire. Our Volunteer Co-ordinator and Directors have full time jobs and will conduct the interviews in their spare time, so please bear with us when trying to organise interview dates.

To be involved in the contruction of the school and to volunteer in the Childrens homes of our partner charity Light in Africa, contact us by email atinfo@malaika-africa.co.uk,  and we will send you our application pack.
